North Africa and Southwest Asia are two regions that have very similar geography. Both regions are dominated by arid and semi-arid landscapes, lacking water, lacking fertile soil, so they can not really develop in most of the sectors. Fortunately for them, both of these regions have enormous reserves of oil and natural reserves, which is actually around what their economies are based. While these two natural resources are one of the most demanded in the world, and they bring in lot of money to these nations, it is not good when the economies are strictly reliant on one or two products, as slight problem with their export or prices will cause enormous damage to the economy.
