Someone who is a quadriplegic, who has suffered a spinal injury that leaves them without use of their arms, would need a straw to drink. This can include people with Muscular Dystrophy and diseases like Parkinson’s, where they lose control of motor function and suffer from tremors. In fact, this is one of the reasons that people with disabilities are objecting to the straw bans, since they need plastic straws that can remain in liquid without dissolving.
