A triangle has three sides.

Side a is three times side b, and side c
is one less than side b. If the perimeter
is 59 units, find the length of all three
sides.

Answer: Side B is 12, Side A is 36, and Side C is 11

Explanation:

Given the information you provided we can conclude:

(Let side B = b)
A = is 3 times as long as B so in terms of b (we use in terms of b since all three sides have something about them that relates to side B)

A=3b

C = is one less than B so

C=b-1

So basically:

A=3b

B=b

C=b-1

and (3b)+(b)+(b-1) =59

Also I have attached a colour-coded breakdown of how to solve this equation, see the image below.

.

After we conclude b=12

A=3(12)=36

B=12

C=12-1=11

Therefore,

A=36

B=12

C=11
