The Sunspots in the visible light appears dark , because , the area are quite cooler than rest of the surface on the Sun .

The temperature of these sunspots is around 3500°C i.e. 6300°F ,

and the temperature of the other part on the surface of the Sun is 5500°C ,i.e. , 10000°F .

Hence ,

Due to the cooler region on the sunspot , with respect to the other surface on the sun , it appears darker .
