Answer:

y = -2x + 5.

Explanation:

As x increases by 2 y decreases by -4 so the graph of the equation will have a negative slope.

The slope = difference in y values / corresponding difference in x values

= (-1 - 3) / (3 - 1) = -4 / 2 = -2.

We know some points on the line and the slope, so we use the point-slope form of a line. Using the point (1, 3):

y - y1 = m(x -x1)

y - 3 = -2(x - 1)

y = -2(x - 1) + 3

y = -2x + 5 is the required equation in slope-intercept form

Answer:

Yes!

The problem is asking for you to solve the slope, to do this you need to take two coordinates from the table.

Let's take (1,3) and (3,-1).

(1,3) will be our first coordinate point

(3,-1) will be our second coordinate point.

Since we're solving for the slope we want to use the slope formula.

This is;
y_(2) - y_(1) \\\\---\\x_(2) - x_(1)

So, your answer would be

(-1 - 3)/(3 - 1)

Which would become,

(-4)/(2)

Your slope would be -4 over 2.

Don't forget the phrase "Rise Over Run!"
