The earth's atmosphere is divided into different layers, namely-

(1) Troposphere

(2) Stratosphere

(3) Mesosphere

(4) Thermosphere

The troposphere is the layer that extends vertically upward from the ground surface up to a height of about 10 km. In this layer, the temperature decreases with altitude and all the weather phenomenon takes place here.

Whereas, the stratosphere is the layer above the troposphere. This layer ranges from 10 to 50 km above the surface of the earth. In this region, the temperature increase with altitude, and this increase in temperature is due to the presence of Ozone in this layer.

Thus, the temperature outside the jet increases abruptly as it flies from the troposphere to the stratosphere layer.
