8x+5-(4x-2)

Pretend that there is a -1 in front of the bracket.

Multiply the bracket with -1

8x+5-1(4x-2)

8x+5-4x+2 ( Whenever multiplying a -negative number and a -negative number= + positive number. + Positive number times - negative number = -negative number

8x-4x+5+2 ( Just rearrange)

=4x+7

Answer: 4x+7

For this case we must simplify the following expression:


8x + 5- (4x-2)

We apply distributive property to the terms within parentheses, taking into account that:


- * + = -\\- * - = +

So:


8x + 5-4x + 2

Adding similar terms taking into account that:

Equal signs are added and the same sign is placed.

Different signs are subtracted and the major sign is placed.


8x-4x + 5 + 2\\4x + 7

Answer:


4x + 7
