Answer:

-29

Explanation:

substitute the y and x values whith there given values

so 1/3-2(3)-4(-1)2

first simplify (-1)2 or (-1)(-1) which is 1 so now the equation is 1/3-2(3)-4(1)

now you must solve all the values that have multiplying involved so you have 1/3-6-4

now subtract 6 and 4 to get 1/3-10

now find the LCD which is 3

multiply the LCD by both terms to get 1-30 which equals -29

For this case we have the following expression:

\frac {1} {3} -2x-4y ^ 2

We must evaluate the expression when:

x = 3\\y = -1

Substituting we have:

\frac {1} {3} -2 (6) -4 (-1) ^ 2 =\\\frac {1} {3} -12-4 (1) =\\\frac {1} {3} -12-4 =

Equal signs are added and the same sign is placed.

\frac {1} {3} -16 =

Different signs are subtracted and the major sign is placed.

- \frac {47} {3}
