Definition of isometric contraction:
Contraction refers to the type of movement which is happening in the muscles. Due to contraction, the muscle generates force which is required for performing a function.
The type of contraction in which muscle after being activated remains in fixed length without increase in length or decrease in length is called as isometric contraction.
The best example of isometric contraction is lifting and walking with an object. When we walk carrying a heavy object though the weight of object pulls downwards, the hand and arms are in the same position.
