I've been stuck on this question for two weeks, please help... :,)

What causes a disturbance that results in a wave?

I've written about 30 different answers, and they're all wrong... :( It's only one (mayyyyyyybe two) word(s) and refers to waves in general, not just waves in water. Like, for instance, electromagnetic waves, or sound waves.​

Well, in water the waves are created by the gravitational pull. But in the electromagnetic field, the waves are created by the acceleration of charged particles. (I just took a test like last week and I had to tell how the waves were created
