What is the length of the hypotenuse of the triangle?

the 2 legs are 7 and 4

can u explain to me how to find the hypotenuse

To answer this question you must use Pythagorean theorem:


a^(2) +b^(2)=c^(2)

a and b are the legs (the sides that form a perpendicular/right angle)

c is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle)

In this case...

a = 7

b = 4

C (the hypotenuse is unknown)

^^^Plug these numbers into the theorem


7^(2) +4^(2) =c^(2)

49 + 16 = c²

65 = c²

To remove the square from c take the square root of both sides to get you...

c = √65

Roughly this is

c ≈ 8.06
