Answer: Groundwater is the water that flows in the underground surface of the rock that bear water and due the underground flow they don't have any downward direction flow.

Step-by-step explanation:Groundwater flows in a direction from high to low level under the ground. They flow in the water bearing rock layer which has soil, rocks , sand , gravel etc. So,groundwater provides the water to these through small passages in the rocks. They only flow in the downward direction where they find spaces or cracks to flow beneath the ground.
