Answer and Explanation:
Transmission with the help of optical fiber will be suitable for networking between VTV and VU at a distance less than 1Km apart. This is due to the fact that in transmission through optical fiber the digital stream of bits or bitstream enters the light source. In case, as single bit is present the lightsource pulses light in that particular time slot, if there no bit, no light pulse will be there and vice-versa depending on the set up.
Earlier in the 90s, optical fibers were used with electronic repeaters as light energy diminishes with distance, so there was a need to repeatedly amplify these signals and then covert these into electrical energy which is then be re-synchronized and regenerated and then converted back into optical or light energy to carry it further in the network.
Due to limitations in data rates to 2.5 Gbps, this was major drawback. Later, due to advancement in technology these can be further carried to long distances.
Fiber-optic transmission is not receptive to electro-magnetic interference and is able to have higher data rates.
