Answer:

A. (5x - 2) - (2x +1)

B. x -1

C. 68

Explanation:

Heather = 5 times Donna -2 H = 5D - 2

Gina = 2 times Donna + 1 G = 2D + 1

Plug in D for X and you get

H = 5x -2

G = 2x + 1

If Heather's expression is 5x -2 and Gina's expression is 2x + 1 then to show how many more Heather has than Gina. You have to subtract Gina from Heather.

(5x - 2) - (2x +1)

Now to simplify it, you just combine all the like terms.

5x - 2 - 2x -1 = 3x - 3 and then you can simply this further by dividing all terms by 3. x - 1

To solve how many Heather has if Donna has 14. You substitute 14 for x in Heather's equation. 5 (14) -2 = 70 - 2 = 68
