Is the ordered pair (1, 2) is a solution of the system { -3x-y = 18

5x + 6y = -12 ?

Explanation:

To determine if the point is a solution substitute the coordinates into the left side of both equations and if equal to the right side then the point is a solution.

- (3 × 1) - 2 = - 3 - 2 = - 5 ≠ 18

(5 × 1) + (6 × 2) = 5 + 12 = 17 ≠ - 12

Hence (1, 2) is not a solution of the system of equations
