Not only (As the other answerer has said) but tropical rainforests tend to get a lot more rain than temperate forests! Also, they each have different animal species that live in said forests. Like, for example, rainforests will have frogs (Like the Poison Dart Frog) and birds (Like the Macaw or other tropical birds). Tropical rainforests may also have different kinds of plants that grow, some plants prefer humidity so they would thrive in rainforests whereas temperate forests don't necessarily become humid very often so that plant wouldn't thrive as well as it would in rainforests. (I don't know if that made sense honestly, sorry if it was confusing)

So basically the differences between temperate and tropical rainforests are the plants, animals, and habitat, or the characteristics that biome has.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

The difference is in the location. If the rain forest is close to the equator, it is considered tropical. If the rain forest is farther away from the equator (between the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer or the Antarctic Circle and the Tropic of Capricorn) then the forest is considered to temperate.
