It should be:
A) -195 each year
B) 2830

So I got hw first answer by solving how much the price decreased in the two year. To do that I had to subtract 3610-4000= -390 in two years, then to find the decrease in one year just divide by 2. The rate should then be a decrease of 195 each year.
To find be, you should then find how many years 2008 is from 2002 which is 6 years. You then need to just multiply the decrease rate by the # years after 2002, 6 years, and get -1170. To get your final answer, you need to subtract 4000-1170= $2830 in 2008.

Answer:

I think:

a) 4.875%

b) 1170

Explanation:

a)

$4000 in 2002 and $3610 in 2004

=> after 2 years, it have lower prices: 4000 - 3610 = $390

$390 in $4000 = 390 : 4000 x 100= 9.75%

It have lower the prices 9.75% after 2 years => each year: 4.875%

b) base on the answers (a), we can guess it in 2008, it have after 6 years => 9.75 * 3 = 29.25%

=> 2008 will be: 4000 x 29.25 : 100 = 1170$
