A rectangular pool has a length that is 4 less than 3 times the width. If the perimeter is 64m what is the area of the pool?

Answer:

207 m²

Explanation:

width = x

length = 3x - 4

2(length + width ) = Perimeter

2(3x - 4 + x) = 64

4x - 4 = 64/2

4x - 4 = 32

4x = 32 + 4

4x = 36

x = 9 m - width

length = 3x - 4 = 3 · 9 - 4 = 23 m

Area = length · width = 23 · 9 = 207 m²
