What is the value of x in the following equation: x - 2 = 9?

Add the two, to both sides. -2+2=0

So, the equation would like like this

x -2= 9

+2 +2

Then solve, the 2’s cancel out leaving you with x by itself. Finishing the equation to look like this-> x=11

when doing an equation like this, you first need to isolate the variable (x).
In this case, you would add the 2 on both sides
making the equation >> x - 0 = 11
you’d drop the zero because it has no value and you get your answer:
x = 11
