From my understanding, the length of cord AB is given. According to the question in the picture attached, you need to find CE.

Triangle ABD and triangle ACE are similar.

Therefore, AB/AC = BD/CE

AB = 6, AC = 8, BD = 12, CE = ?

6/8 = 12/CE

CE = 12x8/6

CE = 16

Therefore, CE is equal to 16.
