The 5 dimensions of poverty stated by OECD DAC (POVNET) are as follows:

  • Lower income of households

It is when the income of a household of same size is comparatively smaller than the average income.

  • Limited and confined education

Due to lack of money as a result of lower than average income, access to proper and quality education to these poverty stricken population can not be provided adding further to their misery.

  • Deficit Health Insurance facilities

Another deteriorating factor as a result of poverty is lack of access to health services further restricting their growth and upliftment in the society.

  • Chronic poverty

Refers to the spatial concentration of poverty or geographical factors affecting poverty mostly as a result of migration of people.

  • High Unemployment rates

Due to lack of skills, education and accessability, rate of unemployement is high
