During one particular week, the two cars went a combined total of 2150 miles, for a total gas consumption of 65 gallons. How many gallons were consumed by each of the two cars that week?

Answer:

the car with 40 miles per gallon consumed 35 gallons

the car with 25 miles per gallon consumed 30 gallons

40x+25y=2150

x+y=65
