Answer:

When we smoke the smoke of the cigarette contains nicotine compounds which get into our lungs and from there it makes it's way into our blood stream. This causes constriction of our blood vessels when the diameter of our blood vessels becomes less the area through which the blood travels becomes less than healthy vessels thus the blood has to travel with greater velocity to maintain the same flow of nutrients and oxygen to the tissues of our body. The faster moving blood exerts a greater force on the walls of the vessels of our body thus the pressure of blood increases.

Arteries are the type of blood vessels that are affected by nicotine smoking.
