Explanation:

Suplementary angles sum 180°

then:

a + b = 180° eq 1

a = b - 48.4 eq 2

replacing the value of eq 2 in eq 1:

(b-48.4) + b = 180°

2b - 48.4 = 180°

2b = 180 + 48.4

2b = 228.4

b = 114.2°

from the eq. 1

a = b - 48.4

a = 114.2 - 48.4

a = 65.8°

Check:

114.2° + 65.8° = 180°
