Explanation:

So, first the surface area of a cylinder is the sum of the two circles plus the rectangle forming the column.

The area of the column is the height x perimeter of the circle

and

The area of the circles is pi x radius^2

Just add all of those up.

Column: 5 * 2 * pi * 7 = height * 2pi * radius = 70*pi

2 x Circle = 2 x pi * 7^2 = 2x49*pi = 98*pi

Sum: 70*pi + 98*pi = 168* pi
