Antitrust laws are designed to create "greater" competition in the marketplace because competition encourages consumers to take advantage of affordable prices of quality products

The laws aim to stopping any illegal monopoly form that will collude the natural monopolies of the regulation of the government.

The laws, therefore, prescribes merges that are not lawful and does match with other business practices. Then it leaves to the court to determine the illegal nature based on the facts presented in each case. Antitrust laws protect consumers’ creation of incentives that are strong.
