Hi, could someone help me out with this question please?

radiator. The radiator currently has a 20% solution of antifreeze and water. If the radiator holds 16 quarts, how much of the 20% solution must be drained and replaced with pure antifreeze to create the desired solution?

Thank you!

Answer:

amount of pure antifreeze pure antifreeze to + pure antifreeze = pure antifreeze

in original solution - be drained out added in final sol.

:

Let x represent the amount of antifreeze to be added

:

.5(16)-.5(x)+x=.6(16)

:

8-.5x+x=9.6

:

.5x=1.6

:

Highlight %28x=3.2% 29 gallons of pure antifreeze
