Answer:

4oz of marshmallows

Explanation:

Given:

Marshmallows ==> $2 per oz ; 500 cal per oz

Cookiess ==> $3 per oz ; 400 cal per oz

Mixture of marshmallows and cookies ===> Cost $29 ; has 4,800 calories

let the number of marshmallows be M

let the number of cookies be C

Considering price:

2M + 3C = 29 ---------------eq 1

Considering Calories:

500M + 400C = 4800 (divide by 100)

5M + 4C = 48 ----------------- eq 2

Solving the system of equations using your favorite method of choice will give:

M = 4 and C = 7

Hence there are 4 oz of marshmallows
