What is a parallel line?

A pair of parallel lines are lines that can NEVER meet. Their line position is ALWAYS the same.

Back to the question:

In this question, you need to find the segment that is parallel to
$\overline{FE}$.

First let's look at the answer choices:

  • Choice A is
    $\overline{AB}$

$\overline{AB}$ is not touching
$\overline{FE}$ and the line position is pretty similar. This means you can keep choice A.

Now, let's go to Choice B:

  • Choice B is
    $\overline{DE}$

$\overline{DE}$ is touching E, meaning it CANNOT be your answer. You can cross out choice B.

Let's go to Choice C:

  • Choice C is
    $\overline{AC}$

$\overline{AC}$ is not touching
$\overline{FE}$; however, it's being touched by it. Not only that, but it's position is not similar to that of segment FE. You can cancel out choice C.

Last but not least, you have Choice D:

  • Choice D is
    $\overline{DF}$

Since
$\overline{FE}$ is touching F, you cancel this choice out too.

That leaves you with one answer choice left:

a.\ $\overline{AB}$ \checkmark \\ b.\ $\overline{DE}$ \ \\ c.\ $\overline{AC}$ \\ d.\ $\overline{DF}$

Your answer is Choice A
