x^2 + 2x -24

So I know one factor is gonna be 6. I have to find a number that multiply with 6 is equal -24. But when 6 add that number the answer must equal 2.

So as you can see 6 multiply -4 is -24. 6+ (-4) is 2z

The answer is D. (X-4)

Hope this helps!

Answer:

the other factor is (X-4)

Explanation:

this is a perfect square trinomial so the two factors should interact the next way:

x2 + 2x – 24

(X+6) * (X-4) the two numbers added give you the middle . . number (2)

and multiplied give you the final number (24) so:

1) +6-4 = 2

and

2) +6 * - 4 = -24
