During a study of college students going to the library to study, 200 students walked into the library and it was noted that 24 were international students. If it is known that there are 423 international students that attend the college, how many students are in the entire college?

To find how many students are in the entire college you need to set up a proportion.

So there are 24 international students out 200 students, so this will be your first ratio. 24/200

Since we need to how many students are in the entire college we will put 423 over x. 423/x

So now you have 24/200 = 423/x

Now you have to do Cross Product Property

So multiply 200 by 423, which is 84,600

Then 24*x = 24x

So 24x = 84,600

Now divide 24 by itself and then by 84,600

24/24 = 1

84,600/24 = 3525

So x = 3525, There are 3,525 students in the entire college
