For example, if you get used to living on the streets as homeless people, you will probably suffer from hunger, cold, fear of facing adverse conditions, etc. In these contexts, people begin to be more "hardened" with these adverse environmental condition and will not probably feel pain in the same way as people accustomed to living in good social conditions.
