Answers are: 45 and 2
a^2 + 6^2 = ?
(-3 x -3) + (6 x 6) = ?
9 + 36 = 45

*remember when you multiply or divide 2 negatives (-3)(-3) it becomes a positive.

a - b = ?
(-3) - (-5) = 2

*remember when you subtract a negative it equals a positive so it’s (-3) and (5)
