AC = 9

CB = 8

AB = 17

As per the triangle inequality theorem the sum of any 2 sides should be greater than the third side. This should be true to all the three combinations.


AC+CB>AB =>
9+8>17 =>
17>17 (not true)


AC+AB>CB =>
9+17>8 =>
26>8 ( true)


AB+CB>AC =>
17+8>9 =>
25>9 (true)

As we can see only two conditions are fulfilled not the third one, so the triangle cannot be formed.
