A taxi charges a flat rate of $5, plus an additional $1.50 per mile. If Erica has at most

$22 to spend on the cab ride, how far could she travel? Which inequality can be
used to determine all the possible numbers of miles (x ) Erica can travel without
going over her budget of $22.

5x + 22 < 1.50
1.50x + 5 < 22
1.50x + 22 < 5
22x + 5 > 1.50

Suppose Erica can ride a maximum of 'x' miles.

So,

5 + 1.50x \leqslant 22

Now simplify to get value of 'x',

1.50x \leqslant 22 - 5

= > 1.50x \leqslant 17

= > x \leqslant (17)/(1.50)

x \leqslant 11.33333

By round off, we get 11.4.

So the Option (1.50x + 5 < 22) is correct.

Therefore, Erica can ride for 11.4 miles.
