Explanation:

f(x)g(x) = (2x - 4)(3x + 1)

Each term in the second factor is multiplied by each term in the first factor

2x(3x + 1) - 4(3x + 1) ← distribute both parenthesis

= 6x² + 2x - 12x - 4 ← collect like terms

= 6x² - 10x - 4
