my mom is always repeating the same old joke if your friends all jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?

I know what you mean my dad used to tell me that,but instead of cliff he would say house. he still says it sometimes, even though the answer is obvious no one would do that.

She’s basically wanting to tell you not to always confide in all your friends because there not always going to be there for you unlike your mother which is always going to be there for you wether it’s for something simple or complicated so clearly you would say no because I’m not an idiot
