Since 1 angle = 90° then the sum of the other 2 angles = 90°, that is

∠2 + ∠3 = 90 ← substitute values

3x + 1 + 2x + 4 = 90

5x + 5 = 90 ( subtract 5 from both sides )

5x = 85 ( divide both sides by 5 )

x = 17

Hence

∠2 = 3x + 1 = (3 × 17) + 1 = 51 + 1 = 52°
