For this case we have by definition, that if two lines are parallel then their slopes are equal. That is to say:


m_ {1} = m_ {2}

If we have a line of the form:


y_ {1} = - \frac {1} {2} x_ {1} + b_ {1}

Then a parallel line will be given by:


y_ {2} = - \frac {1} {2} x_ {2} + b_ {2}

That is, the slopes are the same!
