x-3y= 1

The equation needs to be rewritten in proper Slope intercept form ( y = mx+b) where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

x-3y = 1

Subtract x from each side:

-3y = 1-x

Divide both sides by -3:

y = 1/-3 - x/-3

Simplify:

y = 1/3x - 1/3

The slope is 1/3
