A truck can be rented from company A for $40 a day plus $0.30 per mile. Company B charges $20 a day plus $0.70 per mile to rent the same truck. Find the number of miles in a day at which the rental costs for company A and company B are the same.

Answer:

50 Miles

Explanation:

The equations would be Company A- y=40+0.30x and Company B- y=20+0.70x

When you substitute x for 50 you get A- 40+0.30(50)=40+15=55$ and for B- 20+0.70(50)=20+35=55$ therefor the total miles to be the same for both would be 50 miles.
