57.12cm²

Explanation:

From the attached picture, you will notice that you can fill in the 4 corners of the hexagon with 4 triangles (i.e shaded areas) to form a rectangle.

Area of each shaded corner (triangle) =
(1)/(2) x 4 x 2.14 = 4.28 cm²

Area of 4 shaded corners = 4 x 4.28 = 17.12cm²

Area of rectangle = 9.28 x 8 = 74.24 cm²

Area of hexagon

= Area of rectangle - Area of 4 shaded corners

= 74.24 - 17.12

= 57.12cm²
