A responder can protect himself/herself from radiation by using time as a response action. How is time used as a protective action? Select one: The responder should allow sufficient time for the radiation to reduce in strength to 50% (half life). The theory of time as a response action is that radiation will diminish over a few days. The Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) is good for the first 30 minutes of the release. The responder should limit the time near a source of radiation and leave the area as quickly as possible.
