Explanation:

Let Ed's age = x

Pam's age = 2x - 10

The sum of the ages is 32.

x + 2x - 10 = 32

3x = 42

x = 14

Ed is 14.

Pam is 2x - 10

2x - 10 = 2(14) - 10 = 28 - 10 = 18
