Answer:

Sad.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is about a girl/boy who hates herself which some people can agree. She wants to kill herself because she is the one like this, she is the one like that. The line: "and momma's door is closed" is very important in the poem because it is repeated various times. She says there is not much she wants to do in life so her life must be short which may already be stated in the poem. she must be in college because she says she would die before graduation. I think the title really fits the poem is because it has the word hanging in it and eventually will fall and die. Like stated "die before graduation." The part fire is like when you light a candle it will eventually get blown out (kill itself) or run out of wax (which is to die of age) that is my opinion.

Audre Lorde’s poem Hanning Fire is about a fourteen year old girl that is discovering her life. She talks about the turbulence that she is experiencing, that are typical teenage worries and fears. At the same time she is lonely and believes that she is helpless.

One of the main issues she talks about in the poem is LONELINESS. The author uses a series of hints of loneliness to express many problems the girl is facing.

There are many examples of this loneliness on the text.

1) Lines 10-12 “and momma’s in the bedroom/with the door closed”.

2) Lines 17-18 “… but finally/tell the truth about me”.

3) Lines 24-25 “Nobody even stops to think/about my side of it”.
