A rectangular picture frame's

sides have a length-to-width
ratio of 8:5. What is the length
of a similar picture frame if its
width is 35 inches?

You can set up a proportion of length/width
So 8/5=x/35 then cross multiply to get (5•x)=(8•35). Then this simplifies to 5x=280. Then divide both sides by 5 to get 56. Hope this helps :)
