What does chronological thinking help historians understand?

Although it's not always required, chronological thinking can be very important because it allows you to make sense of certain occurrences by knowing what came before them and therefore could have affected them. (Chronological means in order.)

Because it helps putting things in order.

It has a impact as cause and effect as well. You also get multiple perspectives when you use chronological thinking.
