Constance is constructing a perpendicular bisector using a compass and a straightedge.

What is the least number of arcs Constance needs to draw to complete the construction?

Answer is option B. 2

Draw any line segment.

Take a Compass.

Place it at any one end.

Take more than Half The Length of line segment in the compass and Draw an arc which cuts the line segment above and below.

Then Place the compass at the other end without altering its shape.

Then Draw another arc Which would cut the previous acr above and below the line sengment.

Join the Points were bothe the arcs meet. The newly formed Line segment is The perpendicular bisector.

To some it may be option D. 4

This is because...

when we draw the first arc. some might Draw an arc above and an arc below.

Then Again do the same At the other end.

Which totals to 2+2 =4 arc.

But in a broad sense; The minimum Requirement is 2 Arcs.
