Three characteristics of hunter-gatherer societies were :
- They don't stay in one place for a long time.
- Their communities were small in size hence moving around and settling in new places wasn't so hard for them.
- They relied on hunting and domestic animal instead of crop farming.
The hunter-gatherer lived during the prehistoric time with 90% of the societies living by scavenging and hunting. A few percentage relied on horticulture and crop-farming. They gathered eggs, seafood, nuts since they lived in the forests and woodlands.
Though hunting was also another method of getting food, they did not kill big animal. They only scavenge for animal carcasses after they have by natural death or their prey. Other hunter-gatherer people lived in woodland areas and avoided dense forests increasing scavenging.
