A tank is two - thirds full of water and when 300 liters are used, it is half full. How many Liters will the tank hold when full

Explanation:

Let the total litres in the tank be x

If the tank is two - thirds full of water, then the total litres initially will be 2x/3 litres

When 300 litres is used, then the remaining will be 2x/3 - 300

Equating this to half of the tank i.e x/2, we will have:

2x/3 - 300 = x/2

Collect like terms

2x/3 - x/2 = 300

Multiply through by 6

4x - 3x = 300(6)

4x-3x = 1800

x = 1800

This means that the tank can hold 1800litres of water
